On Friday 28th March members of the Frankston Taiko Group performed at the Derinya Primary School Twilight Fair. The six members have met to rehearse over the past few weeks and were excited to be able to perform as the first group on stage at the Fair.
Bev, Marcia, Denise, Nicole, Therese and Simon met in the Japanese Room for a final rehearsal before transporting the drums to the performance area. The group performed 3 numbers - Workshop, Matsuri Taiko (Festival Drumming) and Autumn Taiko. The Matsuri Taiko piece was performed on stage in our sister city Susono at their Australian Fair in October 2023 by our then recently formed taiko group.
An appreciative audience enjoyed each performance piece before young audience members were invited to step up and have a turn at playing taiko. They were able to briefly experience the energy and power that is taiko and an acceptable way to make some very loud drumming noise. Many commented after the session that they had so much fun!

The Frankston Taiko Group's next public performance will be at The Mayor's Party in the Park at Cruden Farm on Sunday 13th April commencing at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Our monthly lesson and additional practice sessions will continue throughout the year at Frankston High School's Senior Campus.
